For twenty-two years, I cared for young children at daycare — little hands, big hearts, and a job that filled mine completely.

Every summer, my family drove to Siesta Key — and every time those waves came into view, something in me exhaled.

When a boutique became available here on the coast, my husband Larry looked at me across the kitchen table and didn't say a word. He didn't have to.

I handed in my notice. We moved. And on a warm Florida morning, I opened the doors of Nancy's Swimwear for the very first time.

Now I'm sixty-seven, and it's time to retire.

Not because something went wrong.
